This comprehensive 1-day firearms training course introduces the student to the AR-15 / M-4 rifle. During this course, students will learn about Americas #1 selling sporting, self defense and competition rifle.

Students will become familiarized with the AR-15 / M-4 rifle and will learn the basic gun-handling skills that are necessary to safely operate and maintain this weapon system.

Students will also learn about nomenclature, dis-assembly / reassembly, mechanical operation, care & cleaning, preventive maintenance, zeroing iron sights, as well as optics considerations, shooting positions and much more.

The following firearms training topics will be covered:

  • Firearms basic safety
  • Introduction to the AR-15 / M-4 rifle Nomenclature
  • Mechanical operation of the AR-15 / M-4 rifle
  • Dis-assembly / reassembly
  • Function checking the AR-15 / M-4 rifle
  • Fundamentals of shooting a rifle
  • Basic gun-handling skills
  • Loading / unloading and press checking the rifle
  • Sling use and carry techniques
  • Zeroing iron sights
  • Understanding projectile trajectory
  • Confirming mechanical off-set and hold-off POI
  • Sight Alignment
  • Basic marksmanship and target analysis
  • Ammunition management – Emergency, tactical, and speed reloads
  • Malfunction clearance drills – Type 1, Type 2 and Type 3
  • Presentation from the low ready / High ready
  • Shot placement and follow up shots
  • Shooting positions – standing, squatting (Rice Patty Prone), kneeling, prone
  • Dry-practice program and dry-practice skill building drills
  • Basic rifle marksmanship qualification From 3 different shooting positions
  • Preventive maintenance and cleaning

Student requirements: Note pad and pen, eye protection, electronic ear protection, baseball type cap, AR-15 or M-4 type rifle (5.56) with iron sights, sling and at least 3 magazines, elbow pads, knee pads and gun cleaning kit.

Recommended equipment: Rifle magazine carriers, rain gear, sunscreen, insect repellent, hydration system, water and clothing suitable for contact with the ground. Water, snacks and lunch.Ammunition requirements: A minimum of 300 rounds of .223 / 5.56 Ball rifle ammunition
